What You Don't Know!

An Advice Site For New 6th Graders and New Students

So you're going to be new to Space Center Intermediate School? No worries, because I will take you step by step on what you need to know.

First to introduce who I am. I'm Allyson, an 8th grader at Space Center Intermediate. I know that I personally would have loved to know a little something about the school when I was a 6th grader, that's why I created this website. Now to continue...

Your Advice Starts NOW!

What's "In"

Ah, girls, yes, this is the "fashion" section. I'll start off telling you one thing: DO NOT FOLLOW THE TREND IF YOU DO NOT LIKE IT OR LIKE TO STAND OUT. Set your OWN trend. Now to continue.

Limited Too- No Logos For You!

When at Limited Too, search for cute shirts- without the Limited Too logo. Sadly, LTD2 is not in the "in" catagory. DO NOT let that stop you. Buy shirts that are plain, or iron off the LTD2 on the shirts.

Flats, Oh Yes!

Flat shoes are "in". Be sure to buy a pair or two of sneakers too though.

Oh No! Gym Class!

For gym, DO NOT USE YOUR SCHOOL SHOES! Try going to a place like Payless Shoes and pick up a cheap pair of sneakers. You WILL ruin the shoes.

Holiday Celebrations!

In this school, we celebrate different holidays. On your friends birthday, you give them a balloon. On the last two to three days before Christmas break, you give out little presents to your friends. The Dollar Tree is a great place to start. I tend to hand out my gifts on the last day before break. Valentine's Day you give out candy and some people like me give out Valentine's Day cards. I bought my best friends a cute stuffed animal too. St. Patrick's Day wear green, but it's not as big. You will be pinched by people though that love the holiday if you don't wear green.

Food

Yes, the food here is better. PROBLEM: Lots of kids buy their lunch. So, by the time you get your lunch, lunchtime is OVER. I recommend bringing your lunch.

School Supplies

When you get your schedule, you can walk to your classrooms. Some teachers have class materials on the door, but most don't. What I recommend is going to a place like Super Target and buying a couple notebooks, colored pencils, (you don't really need markers), glue, etc. Stuff that you would normally buy. (Also folders with brads.) Below is a list suggested by the school.

(You can find this information in the CCISD Website.)

Dress Code

Of course the booklet is thick, but here's a quick statement of it:

No tank tops even with jackets over them.

No shorts unless they are mid thigh (I suggest go to the knee)

If you raise your arm, not armpits should be showing.

No camisoles (camis) visible. (You could get past this one.)

No cap sleeve shirts.

Oh no! First Day OF School Jitters!

If you are a 6th grader, you will be called puny. Ignore it. On the first day of school, you are aloud to be late. Normally you have 5 minutes to get to each class.

Secrets, Secrets, Secrets!

After you get your schedule, you can go to your classes. Also, the day after schedule pickups and up until school's back, you can come into the school (make sure you sign in at the office. You'll see a sign that says STUDENT CENTER, NURSE, and MAIN OFFICE.), and walk the halls to memorize your schedule. Bring a watch and/or timer to time yourself. Remember, you have five minutes.
